About MHTC (Metabolic Health Tool Center)
Welcome to MHTC, the digital destination for free, clinical-grade, privacy-first health, fitness, and pregnancy calculators.
Who We Are
MHTC (Metabolic Health Tool Center) was founded by a passionate group of health educators, fitness coaches, and software engineers who saw a significant problem with modern health websites. Most health calculators online require you to sign up, input highly sensitive personal medical details, and accept invasive tracking cookies that build behavioral profiles for insurance companies and target marketers. We believed there had to be a better, cleaner, and safer way to explore personal health statistics.
Our platform provides 35 highly specialized, client-side calculators designed to analyze body composition, daily calorie and nutritional limits, training heart rate zones, running kinetics, pregnancy progress, and everyday wellness parameters. By removing backend servers and databases from the calculation equation, we ensure your personal health data remains where it belongs: completely on your own device.
Our Core Values
- Privacy-First Architecture: Privacy is not a checkbox; it is our foundation. We believe that your weight, gestational status, body fat percentage, and health habits are deeply personal. Our platform operates entirely in-browser, meaning no calculation input is ever sent to or stored on our servers.
- Scientific Integrity: We do not guess or rely on simplified estimations. Every calculator is built using peer-reviewed scientific formulas, including the Mifflin-St Jeor equation for basal metabolic rate, the Tanaka formula for maximum heart rate, and the Naegele and Mittendorf-Williams models for prenatal progress.
- Accessibility: High-quality health estimations should be free and accessible to everyone. There are no paywalls, no premium accounts, and no registration prompts on MHTC.
- Code Transparency: Our code is completely open to browser inspection. Clinicians, students, and engineers can open their browser's developer tools (F12) to verify our code, check calculations, and confirm that zero network requests are made during usage.
Meet the Team
Building a clinical-grade health portal requires a diverse team of professionals dedicated to accurate information and clean software design:
- Dr. Sarah Jenkins, MD (Medical Advisor): Sarah oversees the clinical parameters of our pregnancy and metabolic health calculators. She ensures that all informational articles align with current recommendations from the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) and the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Marcus Thorne, CSCS (Fitness & Conditioning Lead): Marcus is a certified strength and conditioning specialist. He reviewed the mathematics behind our VO2 max tests, running pace split calculations, and Karvonen heart rate zones to ensure they match real-world coaching standards.
- Elena Rostova (Lead Software Architect): Elena designed the client-side infrastructure of MHTC. Her goal was to build a modern, responsive web layout that performs complex mathematical calculations in milliseconds without needing backend database scripts.
How We Validate Our Formulas
Before launching a calculator on MHTC, it undergoes a strict three-phase validation process:
- Academic Cross-Referencing: We identify the standard mathematical formulas published in recognized journals (e.g., *The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition*, *Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise*).
- Code Verification: We write the calculator logic in JavaScript, checking it against manual reference calculations to ensure there are no rounding or floating-point errors.
- User Experience Testing: We optimize the tool interface for responsiveness, ensuring that form grids, labels, and results display perfectly on mobile, tablet, and desktop viewports.
Our Client-Side Guarantee
When you use our calculators, your browser downloads the static HTML, CSS, and JavaScript files once. After the page loads, all calculations are executed locally inside your device's memory. The BMI calculator does not send your height, the pregnancy calculator does not upload your dates, and the BAC calculator does not transmit your drinking log. You can disconnect your internet and use our calculators offline—they will work perfectly.
Contact and Feedback
We are constantly seeking to refine and expand our suite of health tools. If you have suggestions for a new calculator, notice a calculation issue, or want to verify a formula source, please reach out to us through our Contact Us page. Your feedback helps us maintain MHTC as a reliable resources for metabolic and wellness calculations.
